Culinary translations
Not even knowing several languages makes us translators, nor does speaking other languages and knowing about food imply that we are gastronomic translators. Gastronomy reflects a country's culture and requires precise knowledge. For example, the measurements used in pastry making are not the same in English and French. It is necessary to indicate the equivalent or to translate appropriately. Otherwise, your pastry book will be a real failure and you will not be able to reproduce the cake recipes. Another example: cuts of meat are different between France and Spain, as are the appellations of origin for wine. Some terms are different between Spain and France. This is why the work of the specialized translator is essential as a cultural mediator. In the sphere of gastronomic translations, my knowledge allows me to avoid the ridiculous mistakes often the target of humor on social media. Following requests from customers, I have recently started offering adaptations and translations in inclusive language. The goal is to include as many people as possible in the communication, and this has emerged as an asset for companies. The use of the mid-point - which is problematic in terms of reading and search engine optimization - is not the sole solution. The use of doublets, epicene terms, the feminization of names and feminization in general make it possible to communicate in a more neutral or more pronounced way, depending on the target and the client's wishes.
